Featuring Cillian Murphy in the lead role under the direction of Christopher Nolan, this movie is based on the 2005 Biography ‘American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer’ by Kai Bird and Marin J. Shirwin.
J. Robert Oppenheimer was also often credited as The Father of Atomic Bomb and was the director of Manhattan Project which developed the world’s first nuclear weapon.
The movie depicts Oppenheimer’s journey towards the success of nuclear weapon, Hiroshima and Nagasaki Bombing which haunted his life leading to his downfall. The movie shows us his emotional struggle with his personal affairs, his contribution towards science, betrayals, political drama. The three hours show is the complete package for a biographical thriller.
The Peaky Blinder actor has worked with Nolan on multiple movies like Inception, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and Dunkirk. But Oppenheimer is the first movie in which the actor played the lead role. In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the Dunkirk director revealed that the filming was scheduled around Murphy’s haircut .
I did insist on scheduling it around Cillian’s haircut. Because I’m very allergic to wigs in movies. I really wanted the film to not have any obvious artifice when it came to the way characters presented themselves.
